Sarnai is a predatory Xaela, formally of the Azim Steppe who needs to feed on blood for aether to sustain herself. Body and soul had fused with a sinister entity as a result of resisting possession. The ensuing corruption transformed her into a predator able to both host and sustain their now single being. The need to feed on aether through the draining of blood is a strange affliction akin to monsters, the result of their fusion. Her slim frame stands at 5’5” with a gentle hourglass figure. In her old life her sinewy arms and legs were a clear sign of athleticism, her hair was fair and skin holding a natural honey glow. New life gave new suppleness, giving Sarnai a more appealing figure that almost masked the muscles that she knew were still there. Her natural glow grew sallow, her stick straight yet wild hair turning black as onyx, reaching down to her lower back with chopped bangs at her brow and jaw. Sarnai can rather unceremoniously cut it herself with stolen shears every so often to keep her hair out of her face. Her black hair frames a pale heart shaped face with bright ruby eyes that can glow when thirsty or feeding. Small fangs sprout from her two top canines, the pointed tips often flashing over soft red lips. Her newfound life granted her the ability to see and smell the aether count in others, slightly better hearing, and increased agility with higher stamina. While she moves with the upmost grace and self assurance, her manner of carrying herself is sensual and wild, more akin to a feline. Ruby eyes imbued with aether sight are nearly always on alert with slender but springy legs slightly bent and her thick tail sweeping slowly behind her calves. She normally finds it more comfortable, and even faster to run in all fours when in danger or giving chase. When in the main cities, which doesn’t happen often, Sarnai tends to lurk in the shadows, though her persistent need for self preservation makes it difficult for her to not be in constant alert. Even when struggling to blend in her natural grace and nature gives no indication that she’s anything but lithe. Any modesty she used to have over her body had long faded. Her saliva contains endorphins along with an anticoagulant agent that when introduced into the bloodstream prevents clotting, and induces both pain relief and pleasure. Depending on her own relationship to the victim they can experience a feeling anywhere from relaxation to euphoria. Despite those properties in her saliva, if Sarnai’s in a fit of rage or hatred when feeding she releases less endorphins, letting them feel more pain.An obsession with the color red has Sarnai rarely seen without it. While on the hunt she prefers lighter, minimal clothing to better move freely in, her vanity has her enjoying the latest fashions from time to time as well.Sarnai’s voice is a bit higher and babyish than what would be expected from her appearance, and her laugh trills with a soprano ring. She gained fluency in all languages spoken across the land and seas since her transformation, even tongues long left behind. When losing control from thirst her temper rises, and when in control from being sated her patience grows. She’s prone to hissing, snarling, growling, and pulling rosy lips back to expose fangs when provoked.

personality

While there’s no separating line between the thoughts and desires of her true self and those of the entity she fused with, Sarnai regardless compartmentalized those corrupted parts of herself she knows came after the transformation. She gave It a name— Shono. Perhaps to try and fruitlessly separate herself from the parts of herself she wished she could deny.Sarnai always had been compassionate and yearning for a belonging to others. She’s thoughtful and fierce in defending those she loved— even when uncomfortable. Her instability in trying to manage Shono has her frightened of growing attached to others.Shono is cunning, manipulative, and filled with self preservation. It always seemed to possess just the right words for Sarnai to say— an unusual affinity for persuasion. For whatever reason Shono seems to possess an addiction to risk that often put her in danger. Vulnerability and weakness is unacceptable, giving Sarnai an unfortunate need to always vie for the upper hand in any unfamiliar territory. Shono helps keep the emotion out of Sarnai’s face, and apart from rage or thirst it rarely betrays any emotion.Despite what can appear on the outside, Sarnai always had a hard time trying to control and supress those tainted tendencies. Trying so fiercely to resist the entity and all that came with it was just as fruitless as the first time she tried. To keep herself from becoming even more unstable than she already is, Sarnai had to learn not only to accept parts of Shono but actively tap into It when in need. Together, Sarnai Shono is flightly, graceful, and flirtatious with a wild edge.

history

Memories of a past life now dead are blurry splotches that steadily fade from her new mind as time goes on. It would be grasping at smoke to recover but there’s some things that have stuck around the longest and brightest.Sarnai remembers she had a family. With time the distinct features of their faces faded but she knew she was loved. One of many siblings. As a child she was a bit too kind-hearted in comparison to them. She would weave together flower crowns from flora picked along the mountains and give them to the people of her tribe. Sarnai would shy away from violence and aspects of conflict that would arise between tribes in the Steppe. The mountains were a common place for her to hide and reside. An older woman’s hand was petting her head, her face a kind, heart-shaped face that resembled Sarnai’s. She knew she was in the mountains when everything changed, delicately weaving another set of crowns. Sarnai didn’t see It, but felt when It hit her. Like an invisible battering ram, all that had existed before ceased, body and soul writhing in agony with the distinct feeling of being shoved into an emptiness. The black emptiness pulled at her as harshly as It shoved her into it, but Sarnai didn’t go quietly. The more she fought against the new occupancy the more excruciating it grew to stand it, as if her simple worldly body wasn’t fit to house two entities. Just when she thought she’d finally had enough and would rather let herself drift into the inky black nothingness than experience one more second of this torture, everything changed. Rather than sense the entities confusion and impatience, she started to feel it herself. Even while her body still convulsed and jerked around in pain she couldn’t help feeling entitled and thought, ‘Let’s make this body mine.’ The shoving sensation turned into a new, even more violently strong pull inwards. Her pain was now coming in slow waves that burned like fire and left the parts it burned with residual warmth. She internally growled, and heard with slightly sharper hearing the harsh sound ripple up her throat and spit through her clenched teeth. From then on her body was always a few degrees hotter than what a normal Au Ra should be.Sarnai wasn’t sure for how long she’d been laying there, but she could sense the teen boy long before he saw her. Her eyes were closed but her horns picked up the hurried, worried pace his steps made, no doubt towards the screams of a young woman that he heard echoed off the mountains. Her chest expanded, filling her lungs with the scent of aether. Mmm. There was an indescribable smell to him, something that brought a strange taste to her mouth as it filled with saliva. She saw her own reflection in his terrified eyes as she suddenly coiled to leaped at him. Bright, glowing, ruby irises were hungry. He was only able to take a half step backwards before she was on him. Her pure agility and element of surprise won out over what greater strength no doubt the young male would have over the smaller xaela. If not for the spray of red that sprouted from him she almost appeared to be kissing his neck. His resounding scream was quickly cut off as endorphins spread through his system, the sound gurgling in his throat and turning into a garbled groan. His struggles ceased, though his life came after. Too soon! Strangely, as soon as she felt the thrum of his heart grow still, the taste of his blood grew sour. She lifted off of him, a hiss of distaste accompanying the steady drip drip of his still-warm blood falling from her lips.A small part of her, one that was tucked away as she fed and now suddenly came back recoiled in horror at the way her body naturally shivered with pleasure and how her tongue licked her lips as if wanting more. Another persistent part of her was still impatient yet alert, red eyes restless as they scanned the surrounding area for witness. It was disconcerting to experience the two parts of her that were both separate but melded together. Something she’d have to manage. If she felt any remorse, it didn’t show in the wild woman’s face, stony and stained in drying blood that trickled down her chin as she ran at an easy sprint. Sarnai barely needed to change her steady breathing, and she found herself able to cross great plains faster and with more stamina than before. Her stomach both soared and fluttered with the faint feeling of flying, only to twist in disgust. She knew the boy she killed and yet she so easily flitted away from his corpse to the river without a backward glance. The grief would come later, when the high of her first feed wore off and the evil inside of her lay dormant, sated. When she was relatively safe, laid beneath a large upturned root and curled on the soft earth did her tears finally spill, concealed with the rain that never seemed to end.Through trial, error, and eventually acceptance Sarnai developed her own twisted moral code to both keep herself from becoming completely controlled by her new instincts and salvage whatever remnants of her soul there were left. When in thirsting for aether, her more animalistic instincts start to take control; when full and sated she’s able to let reason rule over her mind. To keep herself comfortable she needs to feed every three days, and to keep herself from losing control she needs to feed at least once a week. While Sarnai’s unable to stop herself from losing control under starvation, she tries her best to keep herself fed on who she chooses, to prevent the worst part of her from taking more of her will. Her own moral code is sometimes difficult to abide by, especially when those who she doesn’t want to hurt hold such high counts of aether. The baser instincts she tries to save for those who in her mind deserve it: other predators. A different kind who’s sick tendencies have them preying on others for mere enjoyment. Her baby-like voice combined with her deceptively slender body are used to beguile and lure potential victims to an isolated place to feed or incapacitate. The type of person she targets usually look past the warnings in Sarnai’s appearance and would think her another prize to be won, or tamed. Since there’s neither sustenance nor reason in feeding on a corpse devoid of aether, Sarnai prefers to leave her victims alive, when able. While Sarnai travels she finds herself mostly sleeping in the wild. She has a few stolen or found trinkets she carries with her, a silver locket that she’d found in an abandoned house her favorite. As she’s been a lone nomad for so long she is used to no attachments, thinking herself too inherently evil to deserve anything but solitude. She knows it’s better off to not connect to others, though a yearning for closeness remains. Sarnai can be seen lurking and people watching, even when not starved.

hooks

>Lurker - Hungry or not, Sarnai can be seen quietly lurking to people watch. She can watch travelers from the trees or the common city folk from the shadows.>Notoriety - In the east, mostly in Yanxia Sarnai has unintentionally developed a bit of a reputation under the pseudo name “Bloody Rose”. Her assaults have been mostly relegated to the criminal underground in the cities of Yanxia, though a few close calls and accidental assaults on the common folk have them on the alert for a bloody Xaela with red eyes.>Nature - While she does sleep, she doesn’t need as many hours as a normal, untainted person, but she can be seen curled up in hollow man-made caves or in natural caves made by soil, trees, or rock formations. She also washes her victim’s blood off in partially secluded springs and small waterfalls.>Research - Sarnai’s body and soul fused with some unknown evil entity, physically and mentally turning her into a predator. It might be fascinating to research, if a brave and fearless soul wants to try.>Gambler - The only time Sarnai can fully enjoy and let herself go in civilized areas is at the Gold Saucer— where she can be seen feeding her addiction to gambling.

[[ Sarnai isn’t 100% hostile but can attack or attempt to lure your character if thirsty. You can always ask OOC beforehand whether Sarnai is thirsty or not. ]]What I'm looking for is,...>Para-Multi Para RP : I'm not excessive but intro posts are usually longer than the rest, after that I tend to match to whoever I'm roleplaying with. I'd prefer someone who can do more than just one liners.>Mature RP : 18+ strictly; I'm open to mature/violent/disturbing themes but am NOT OKAY WITH : Watersports, waste, gore, beastiality, and any mature themes involving anyone underage.>Improvisational Roleplay : I believe in and am okay with setting a base story or aim and letting the roleplayers jump off from there, creating the smaller details as we go. I find it boring if we have to map out all if not most of the details of the roleplay before starting. Any extreme character defining/changing decisions should be discussed and agreed on OOC.>In game and Discord Roleplay : I for the most part would like to roleplay in game but of course have my days where I'd prefer to stay on discord. It's safer to assume in game but never hurts to shoot a message as well @ miss#9929. I can roleplay in /say, /tell, /party, and /em, I'm open to any.>Fair Roleplay : I'm not okay with my character dying so no auto-hitting/killing/permadeath or god-modding. I'd also like to keep things to roleplay and not let things get too messy with IC and OOC. As for lore I enjoy using lore as a jumping off point not a cage to constrain ourselves.>Pre-determined Relationships : With prior communication and agreement beforehand I'm open to it as long as it's logical for the backstory.>Continued Roleplay : I'm not totally opposed to one-off roleplays but I would prefer a recurring roleplay with a gently lore-specific character.>Drama Free : I am sweet and responsive to those who do the same, but life happens. I work full time in the weekdays 8:00am-5:00pm CST and can nap after so if you don't get immediate responses don't fret. I don't respond well to strife or pressure OOC.>Respect : I reserve the right to cease roleplaying or end an IC relationship and am grateful for the understanding.
